St. John the Evangelist School understands that you may have a busy schedule—making regular school hours a challenge. To help your child have a place to work on homework and participate in fun activities while you’re at work, the School offers both before- and after-school programs.

Before School

The Before School Program begins at 7:00 a.m. and ends at 7:30 a.m. every school day.

Students are welcomed by a full-time teacher and spend time in a classroom preparing for their day, reading or playing games until the morning gathering to start the class day.

After School

The AfterCare program operates every school day from 2:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and is located in the Big School (where Grades 1-8 are located). The program has access to multiple large rooms and boys and girls lavatories.

The program utilizes the play areas as well as the gymnasium.  On half days the AfterCare program runs from 12:15 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

The program is staffed by an adult trained in First Aid, CPR and Med Administration and a high school student. Local high school students, some of whom are SJS alumni and others from The Taft School, Holy Cross High School and Sacred Heart High School also volunteer for the program to provide fun and engaging activities including arts and crafts, sports, board games, and technology activities.

Students have a snack break to start the AfterCare program as well as structured homework time and planned activities. AfterCare promotes a relaxed atmosphere of friendship and fun where students can wind down from a busy day.
