In Literature, We are starting off the new school year with a group assignment surrounding our summer reading.  The groups will share information to learn how to be part of a group while also discussing the plot, setting and characters of the story.

In English, we have started to use the SMARTBOARD to learn our grammar!  Our first task is to review subjects and verbs (predicates).  Our class is also fortunate to have new English books this year.  Although the English language does not change much (aside from new dictionary words) it is nice to have the updated texts for definitions and exercises.

In Vocabulary,   yes, the sixth graders will begin to learn to use more precise words to express their feelings in their oral and written language.  Our first focus is on latin and greek root words which help us to decipher the meaning of a word in context. (vocab word!).
