Mrs. Ouellette - Math & Language Arts
Language Arts - The students are learning verbs vocaciously!!! (good vocab word) They have become proficient with active and passive voice, and are not progressing through transitive and intransitive verbs.
Active Voice - the subject is doing the action.
Marcie wrote the story.
Passive Voice - the action is being done to the subject.
The story was written by Marcie.
Transitive Verbs - the subject is the doer of the action (active voice) AND there is a receiver of the action, direct object.
Marcie wrote the story.
In Vocabulary, the students have completed Unit 5. We are moving along well! We will continue to supplement our vocabulary learning strategies with Latin and Greek roots.
Literature - We have just finished our skit presentations on the story, "Banner in the Sky." This story is about a young boy who climbs a mountain in the Swiss Alps and merely by chance, saves a famous and experienced mountain climber from a crevasse. The students also watched a movie that was based on the story and then discussed the comparisons and differences of the story and movie. Lots of great mountain vocab words, too!
